Shapiro Has Highest Approval Rating Among Recent Pennsylvania Governors
New poll shows Shapiro with strong support from Pennsylvania voters
Governor Shapiro has the highest approval rating among his four most recent predecessors, according to a new poll from the Commonwealth Foundation.
The poll, which was conducted in January, found that Shapiro has a 62% approval rating, while his predecessor, Tom Wolf, had a 58% approval rating at the same point in his term. The other two governors included in the poll, Ed Rendell and Mark Schweiker, had approval ratings of 56% and 49%, respectively.
Shapiro's approval rating is also higher than that of President Joe Biden, who has a 35% approval rating in Pennsylvania. Shapiro is also more popular than other Democratic politicians in the state, such as U.S. Senator Bob Casey, who has a 48% approval rating.
The poll suggests that Shapiro is off to a strong start as governor. He has been praised for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and his efforts to address economic inequality.
