Kesha Updates "TiK ToK" Lyrics to Remove Sean "Diddy" Combs Reference
Kesha Removes "P Diddy" from Opening Line of Hit Song
"I woke up in the morning feeling like... nobody," jokes singer about lyric change
Pop star Kesha has updated the lyrics to her 2009 hit song "TiK ToK" to remove a reference to rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs. The original opening line of the song, "Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy," has been changed to "Wake up in the morning feeling like nobody."
Kesha revealed the lyric change in a recent interview, saying that she had been wanting to make the update for some time.
"I wrote that song when I was 22," Kesha said. "I was young and I was just trying to make a fun song that people could dance to. I didn't really think about the lyrics that much."
Kesha said that she has since learned more about the history of sexism and objectification in the music industry, and she felt that the "P Diddy" lyric was no longer appropriate.
"I don't want to be part of the problem," Kesha said. "I want to be part of the solution."
The updated lyrics to "TiK ToK" are as follows:
Wake up in the morning feeling like nobody Hey what up girl Grab my glasses I'm out the door I'm gonna hit this city Let's go
